Why Strain Guard Was Created

In 2019 our RV caught fire. It started at the shore power inlet. We found it in time.

We spent the next two years looking for something that would keep the cord's weight off the connector. Nothing like it existed, so we built one.

Our Story and Mission

What Strain Guard Does

A shore power cord hangs its own weight off the connector — about eight pounds on a 50-amp cord, before you add road vibration and wind. Strain Guard cradles the connector and supports the cable behind it, so that weight rests against the vehicle instead of on the pins.

Passive and mechanical. No electronics, no wiring, nothing added to the electrical path.

Who We Build For

Full-timers, weekenders, and the retirement communities where a rig stays plugged in for months at a stretch. A long-term hookup is where cord weight has the most time to work on a connector.

Made in Battle Creek, Michigan. Shipped from Battle Creek, Michigan.
